Be of Good Cheer: We are in God’s Hands

The religious world has been saddened this past two weeks by the expected death of our beloved Prophet. Thomas Spencer Monson died 2 January 2018 at the age of 90 years. His funeral service was amazing and as the funeral procession passed the Roman Catholic Cathedral on the way to the Salt Lake City Cemetery, the Cathedral bells rang out their final farewell too.

President Monson devoted 69 years church service as Bishop( at age 22), member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, Counselor to the President, and President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Elder Russell M. Nelson was ;announced as the new President and Prophet on 16 Jan 2018 at the age of 93. President Nelson was a member of the Quorum of Twelve Apostles for 34 years. He was a world renowned heart surgeon who participated in the development of the artificial heart and the surgical procedures that ensured life in those who received this remarkable device.

The accumulated knowledge and skill of this remarkable man belies his age. He still skies with his grandchildren and remembers the names and birthdates of his extensive posterity which includes 116 great grandchildren. He said: “A well educated man never stops learning.” And his life reflects that belief–he speaks many languages including Mandarin, Spanish, and French.

We are in God’s hands under the care of a new Presidency and Prophet. Your favorite genealogist, Arlene  Eakle.
